Dr. Matthew Gillespie is a native Texan, born and raised in Fort Worth. He received his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from Texas Tech University. After graduation Dr. Gillespie was accepted to the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Dental School. While in dental school Dr. Gillespie participated in dental research every year to help advance the profession. He was selected to represent the dental school at several national meetings. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Gillespie earned a distinction in research for all of his efforts in addition to his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS). Dr. Gillespie is trained in sedation dentistry to provide comfort for those with dental anxiety. Dr. Gillespie is committed to lifelong learning and staying on the forefront of dentistry to provide you with the best care possible. Dr. Gillespie is proud to be Tyler’s only advanced trained Minimally Invasive Biomimetic Dentist. He has studied internationally under the doctors who have pioneered minimally invasive biomimetic dentistry. In addition to his clinical interests, Dr. Gillespie has a passion for changing the health care compensation system to a more efficient framework that delivers healthier outcomes for patients while rewarding doctors for reducing the amount to treatment delivered.
After college, Dr. Gillespie married his high school sweetheart, Jenny. Jenny has been an integral part of Dr. Gillespie’s success and is also a valued member of the staff at Azalea Dental Care. In their spare time they both enjoy spending time outdoors, which is what initially drew them to beautiful East Texas. Dr. Gillespie especially enjoys hunting, fishing, and water sports such as wake boarding, surfing, and white water rafting. He looks forward to giving you and your family the smiles you deserve!
